Zakat Al-Fitr 1447 / 2026

Zakat Al Fitr is a tribute that all Muslims must pay at the end of the month of Ramadan. The term ZAKAT means purification, and this Zakat purifies and validates the fast.

At the CAPP Foundation, we would be very grateful to receive your ZAKAT AL FITR donations so that many families in need can have a good end to Ramadan and bring joy to their children like all other children.

Frequently Asked Questions about Zakat Al-Fitr

What is Zakat Al Fitr?

It is a type of obligatory charity at the end of the Ramadan fast.

In this way, Muslims purify themselves and their fast is valid, while also contributing to feeding the poor.

Abu Said Al Khudri, radiyallahu anhu (may Allah be pleased with him), said:

“In the time of the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu alayhi wasallam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we used to pay Zakat Al Fitr with one sa’a of food. And it was our food of that day: dates, barley, raisins, and dried milk.” (Transmitted by Al Bukhari)

A sa’a is the measure obtained by filling four times the cupped hands (mudd) with the hands of the Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wasallam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). That is, the hands of a man of average build. We are talking about approximately 2.5 kg to 3 kg in weight.

And what Abu Said mentions in this hadith is the predominant food in Madinah (Medina) Al Munawara at that time. But in any case, the food with which Zakat Al Fitr can be paid includes anything that can be eaten, provided it is the staple food of the locality.

Some scholars differ on whether money can be given instead of the staple food of the place where it is distributed.

Zakat Al Fitr should be distributed in the same place where it was collected. However, there is no objection to transporting it to another country or region if the need requires it, such as sending it to a region where poverty and need are greater or to a different city where the giver has relatives.

Everyone who can pay it is obligated to give it as long as they have enough to eat on the day of Eid and also for their family. A man must pay it for himself and for each person who depends on him and whom he is obligated to support among the Muslims, such as his wife, children, parents if they are poor, etc. However, if the wife and children are able to pay it for themselves, they may do so if they wish.

Those who do not have sufficient means to give it or only have what they need and nothing more.

It should be given to the poor or to people who need it. It can be given directly to them or a donation can be made through a mosque or association that will be responsible for distributing it appropriately.
